Job summary

The Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, is seeking Security Officers to join their team to assist in protecting the Museum’s collections and creating an inclusive visitor experience where all visitors are welcome and feel that they belong. As one of the world’s renowned art museums, the MFA offers diverse programming and a dynamic campus.

This part-time position in Boston features weekday and weeknight shifts with a starting wage of $21.65 per hour, plus shift differentials for certain shifts.

Qualifications

• Strong customer service and interpersonal skills are required.
• Flexibility to work outside regular hours for special programming and other coverage.
• Physical stamina for walking, standing, and navigating multiple floors and climate conditions.
• Basic computer skills and familiarity with security equipment are expected.
• Multilingual abilities are a plus.

Responsibilities

• Provide superior customer service to visitors, staff and volunteers.
• Perform routine patrols of galleries, exterior doors, labs, secure areas and facilities.
• Assist with crowd control during highly attended exhibitions and events.
• Maintain communication with the Command Center and report safety concerns and incidents.
• Identify potential security risks with keen observation and remain calm in high-stress situations.
• Work independently with minimal supervision and exercise sound judgment.
• Maintain confidentiality and familiarity with security equipment.
