Job summary

Ridgeview Medical Center in Waconia, MN, is seeking a part-time Security Officer to safeguard staff, patients, visitors, facilities, and grounds. The role is 24 hours per pay period and is NOT eligible for benefits.

Responsibilities include patrolling, escorts, emergency plan execution, responding to security incidents, monitoring cameras and alarms, operating radios and other security equipment, and maintaining logs and incident reports. A High School Diploma and 21 years of age are required.

Qualifications

• Must be 21 years of age to meet insurability requirements.
• Capable of independent decision making with critical thinking.
• Ability to communicate in English for written and verbal correspondence.

• Fulfill key responsibilities during organization’s implementation of emergency plans.
• Respond to security emergencies and calls for service.
• Monitors security systems such as cameras, alarms, and access controls.
• Operates equipment including radio, emergency vehicle, and force options.
• Note non-compliance with policies related to safety and security.
• Complete required training (ASP, MOAB, Taser, IC&S 100 & 200).
• Complete daily logs and incident reports.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Purpose of Job

This position is responsible for the safety and security of staff, patients, visitors, facilities, and grounds.

Job Functions

Performs essential security functions to protect the assets of Ridgeview Medical Center from loss, damage, and /or unauthorized access.

• Patrols and provides escorts at assigned locations.
• Fulfill key responsibilities during organization’s implementation of emergency plans.
• Respond to security emergencies as well as various calls for service and assist as needed.
• Monitors critical building security systems such as camera, alarms, access controls, etc.
• Maintains and properly operates equipment including radio, emergency vehicle, and assigned use of force equipment.
• Cities non-compliance related to administrative policies such as smoking, parking and regulations related to safety and security.
• Successfully complete all required training (ASP, MOAB, Taser, IC&S 100 & 200, etc.)
• Complete daily logs and incident reports.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

High School Diploma or equivalent

Must be 21 years of age to meet Ridgeview's insurability requirements.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

Capable of making independent decisions with the use of good critical thinking and problem-solving skills

Ability to meet and maintain the necessary background checks as aligned with position functions

Ability to communicate in the English language for effective written and verbal correspondence in order to complete job functions as mentioned above

Ability to understand verbal and written instructions in the English language and respond accordingly in order to complete job functions as mentioned above

License/Certifications

• CPR/First Aid within 6 months of hire
• Valid MN driver’s license

Preferred Qualifications

• International Association of Healthcare Safety Security (IAHSS) Basic Level
• Emergency Medical Responder (EMR) (within 6 months of hire)
• Incident Command System (ICS) 100, 200 (within 1 year of hire)
• Completion of recognized curriculums (STORM, CPI, etc.)
• TASER, ASP, Repuls/AIP, Management of Aggressive Behaviors (M.O.A.B)
