Job summary

Front Porch Communities & Services in Oakland seeks a dedicated Security Officer I to protect residents and staff. You will patrol interiors and exteriors, respond to emergencies, and ensure safety through vigilant observation and documentation.

The role offers full-time employment with benefits, a focus on customer service, and compliance with safety protocols. Prior security experience and a valid Security Guard Card are advantageous.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• 6 months of security experience required.
• Security Guard Card credential is a plus (nonessential).

Responsibilities

• Patrols campus grounds, lobbies, corridors, and access points to ensure safety.
• Responds to fire alarms, emergency calls, and other emergencies.
• Investigates incidents, completes resident loss and incident reports, and files copies with supervisor.
• Maintains accurate logs of shift activities and follows safety procedures.
• Performs emergency janitorial duties and sets building temperatures as needed.
• Follows safety standards and participates in campus-wide safety programs.

Provides security services for residents and employees of the organization. Protects from and responds to fire, theft, vandalism, and illegal entry by performing the following duties.

Detailed Responsibilities:

• Security Officer I
• Provides quality Customer Service efficiently to residents, families, co-workers and vendors in a manner to ensure satisfaction
• Patrols, periodically, outside grounds of campus and lobbies, corridors and public rooms, access points of the facility to ensure safety and security of residents and staff
• Responds to fire alarms, emergency call switch activation and other emergencies
• Graciously warns violators of rule infractions, such as loitering, smoking, or carrying forbidden articles, and devises, reports or expels persons engaging in suspicious or criminal acts
• Investigates and completes resident loss reports and incident reports, gives copies to supervisor and maintains a file on them
• Keeps accurate log of shift activities
• Occasionally performs emergency janitorial duties and sets thermostatic controls to maintain specified temperature in buildings or cold storage rooms
• Familiar with all disaster, fire and other emergency procedures as outlined in facility disaster plan
• Performs all duties in a safe and efficient manner Wears PPE/safety equipment as required for the job Reports any safety hazards and/or accidents to supervisor
• Follows department safety standards, practice body mechanic techniques and participate in campus-wide safety programs
