Job summary

Front Porch Communities & Services' Vista del Monte campus in Santa Barbara is seeking a Security Officer to protect residents and staff. This part-time role covers Friday and Saturday 2:30 PM–11:00 PM and involves monitoring grounds, responding to alerts, and ensuring a safe environment.

Responsibilities include patrolling, handling incidents, maintaining logs, and adhering to safety procedures while providing courteous service to residents, families and vendors.

• Patrols, periodically, outside grounds of campus and lobbies, corridors and public rooms, access points of the facility to ensure safety and security of residents and staff.
• Responds to fire alarms, emergency call switch activation and other emergencies.
• Graciously warns violators of rule infractions, such as loitering, smoking, or carrying forbidden articles, and devises, reports or expels persons engaging in suspicious or criminal acts.
• Investigates and completes resident loss reports and incident reports, gives copies to supervisor and maintains a file on them.
• Keeps accurate log of shift activities.

Detailed Responsibilities

• Security I
• Provides quality Customer Service efficiently to residents, families, co-workers and vendors in a manner to ensure satisfaction
• Patrols, periodically, outside grounds of campus and lobbies, corridors and public rooms, access points of the facility to ensure safety and security of residents and staff
• Responds to fire alarms, emergency call switch activation and other emergencies
• Graciously warns violators of rule infractions, such as loitering, smoking, or carrying forbidden articles, and devises, reports or expels persons engaging in suspicious or criminal acts
• Investigates and completes resident loss reports and incident reports, gives copies to supervisor and maintains a file on them
• Keeps accurate log of shift activities
• Occasionally performs emergency janitorial duties and sets thermostatic controls to maintain specified temperature in buildings or cold storage rooms
• Familiar with all disaster, fire and other emergency procedures as outlined in facility disaster plan
• Performs all duties in a safe and efficient manner Wears PPE/safety equipment as required for the job Reports any safety hazards and/or accidents to supervisor
• Follows department safety standards, practice body mechanic techniques and participate in campus-wide safety programs
