Allied Universal, North America’s leading security and facility services company, seeks a Security Officer Full Time Visitor Welcome Desk in Detroit, MI. You will greet students, staff, and visitors, support access control, and maintain a professional campus presence.

Position Type: Full Time. Pay rate: $18.40 per hour. You will monitor entry activity, respond to incidents, and help create a safe campus experience while aligning with Allied Universal values of agility, reliability, and integrity.

Qualifications

• Customer service experience is preferred.
• Comfortable using a computer or tablet is preferred.
• Access control and badge experience is preferred.
• CPR and/or First Aid certification is preferred.
• Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ for armed roles.
• Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation and drug screen.
• Licensing requirements may be required.

Responsibilities

• Provide customer service at the front desk to students, faculty, staff, visitors, and guests.
• Monitor access by greeting visitors, verifying credentials, issuing passes, and maintaining visitor records.
• Respond to incidents, alarms, and security concerns following escalation procedures.
• Receive and route calls, provide directions and information, and report security concerns to campus personnel.
• Maintain awareness of front desk activity and deter unauthorized access with a professional presence.

As a Front Desk Security Professional in an educational setting, you will welcome students, staff, and visitors while supporting access control and maintaining a professional, approachable presence. You will monitor entry activity, communicate clearly, respond to security-related concerns, and help create a positive campus experience. What You'll Do:

• Provide customer service to students, faculty, staff, visitors, and guests while carrying out site-specific security-related procedures, policies, and emergency response activities at the front desk.
• Monitor access to the educational location by greeting visitors, verifying credentials as directed, issuing visitor passes, and maintaining accurate visitor records.
• Respond to incidents, alarms, and critical situations in a calm, professional, problem-solving manner, following established escalation and notification procedures.
• Receive and route calls, provide directions and general information, and communicate security-related concerns to appropriate campus personnel and/or emergency responders.
• Maintain awareness of activity in the front desk area and help to deter unauthorized access or inappropriate conduct through a professional presence.

Minimum Requirements:

• Customer service experience is preferred.
• Comfortable using a computer or tablet is preferred.
• Access control and badge experience is preferred.
• CPR and/or First Aid certification is preferred.
• Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
• Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
• Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
• Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
• A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.
