Job summary

Allied Universal in Ashburn, VA is hiring a full-time Unarmed Security Officer to patrol school sites, assist staff and visitors, and maintain a safe, welcoming environment. You will apply customer service skills and follow site-specific procedures.

This position offers a daytime Mon–Fri schedule, $18.87 per hour, and opportunities for training, advancement, and comprehensive benefits through Allied Universal.

Qualifications

• Minimum 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ for armed roles.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Background check required by federal/state/local laws.
• Drug screen required where permitted by law.
• Guard card or license preferred.
• Licensing requirements may be required.
• Driver’s license required for driving positions only.

Responsibilities

• Provide customer service to students, staff, visitors, and other stakeholders while carrying out site-specific procedures and security-related protocols at an educational government location.
• Respond to incidents, disturbances, medical situations, and other critical events in a calm, professional manner, following emergency procedures.
• Conduct regular unarmed patrols of school buildings, grounds, parking areas, and perimeter areas to identify and report hazards or maintenance concerns.
• Monitor access points and visitor activity, direct guests, and report unauthorized access to appropriate personnel.
• Prepare clear, accurate reports and maintain communication with school staff and Allied Universal leadership.

What You'll Do:

• Provide customer service to students, staff, visitors, and other stakeholders while carrying out site-specific procedures and security-related protocols at an educational government location.
• Respond to incidents, disturbances, medical situations, and other critical events in a calm, professional, problem-solving manner, following established emergency response procedures.
• Conduct regular and random unarmed patrols of school buildings, grounds, parking areas, and perimeter areas to help identify and report unusual activity, hazards, or maintenance concerns.
• Monitor access points and visitor activity, assist with directing guests, and report unauthorized access or policy concerns to appropriate school personnel and/or emergency responders.
• Prepare clear, accurate reports and maintain communication with school staff, Allied Universal leadership, and local authorities as needed.

Minimum Requirements:

• Customer service experience is preferred.
• Comfortable using a computer or tablet is preferred.
• CPR certification is preferred.
• A guard card or license is preferred.
• Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
• Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
• Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
• Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
• A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.
