Job summary

Allied Universal® is seeking a Security Officer to provide unarmed patrol and customer service at a Chicago educational location. You will conduct routine patrols, deter incidents, assist students, staff, and visitors, and uphold campus safety policies.

This Full Time role offers a 4:00 PM–2:00 AM schedule, pays $19.50 per hour, and includes benefits such as retirement, medical, dental, vision, life/AD&D, disability insurance, and access to our Perks Program.

Qualifications

• Customer service experience preferred.
• Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ for armed roles.
• Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
• Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
• Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
• A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.

Responsibilities

• Provide customer service to students, faculty, staff, and visitors by carrying out security-related procedures, site‑specific policies, and, when appropriate, emergency response activities.
• Respond to incidents, disturbances, medical emergencies, and critical situations in a calm, professional, problem‑solving manner, following established campus protocols.
• Conduct regular and random unarmed patrols of campus buildings, walkways, parking areas, and perimeter locations to help identify unusual conditions and help to deter unauthorized activity.
• Monitor access points and report maintenance concerns, hazards, suspicious activity, and policy violations to the appropriate personnel.
• Prepare clear, accurate reports and maintain communication with Allied Universal leadership and designated campus contacts.
