Job summary

Allied Universal is seeking a Security Officer (Full Time, Unarmed Customer Service) in Chicago, IL. You will guard premises, monitor areas, patrol facilities, and provide welcoming, helpful service to visitors and staff.

Work schedule is Mondays and weekends with morning shifts; pay is $19.50 per hour. Ideal candidates have a high school diploma and perhaps a guard card/license, CPR, and customer service experience.

Qualifications

• A guard card or license is preferred.
• Customer service experience is preferred.
• CPR certification is preferred.
• Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
• Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Background check will be conducted in accordance with laws.
• A drug screen may be required.
• Licensing requirements depend on state/local laws and may be required prior to employment.
• A valid driver’s license is required for driving positions only.

Responsibilities

• Provide customer service to visitors, students, faculty, staff, and guests by following security procedures and site policies.
• Respond to incidents and concerns calmly and professionally according to location protocols.
• Conduct regular unarmed patrols through galleries, public spaces, classrooms, offices, exterior areas, and perimeter.
• Monitor access points and manage visitor flow, report unusual conditions, and offer directions or assistance.
• Document incidents and observations and communicate information to site leadership and Allied Universal management.

Job Description

As a Security Officer Full Time Unarmed Customer Service in Chicago, IL, you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Education, and more. As an Unarmed Security Officer at a premier educational and cultural location, you will monitor assigned areas, conduct routine patrols, maintain a visible presence to help deter security-related incidents, and support a welcoming experience for visitors, students, staff, and guests. What You'll Do:

• Provide customer service to visitors, students, faculty, staff, and/or guests by carrying out security-related procedures, site-specific policies, and when appropriate, emergency response activities.
• Respond to incidents, visitor concerns, and critical situations in a calm, professional, problem-solving manner, following established museum and educational location protocols.
• Conduct regular and random unarmed patrols throughout galleries, public spaces, classrooms, offices, exterior areas, and the perimeter to help to deter unauthorized activity.
• Monitor access points and support visitor flow by observing entry and exit activity, reporting unusual conditions, and providing directions or assistance as needed.
• Document incidents, observations, and security-related concerns accurately and promptly, and communicate relevant information to site leadership and Allied Universal management.

Minimum Requirements:

• A guard card or license is preferred.
• Customer service experience is preferred.
• CPR certification is preferred.
• Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
• Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
• Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
• Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
• A valid driver's license will be required for driving positions only.
