Job summary

Allied Universal in Chicago, IL seeks a Security Officer Patrol Service Ambassador to protect clients and campuses. You will perform patrols, deter incidents with a visible presence, and deliver excellent service to students, staff, and visitors while adhering to campus protocols.

This full-time role offers a daytime/evening schedule with a pay rate of $19.50 per hour, plus opportunities for training, advancement, and access to Allied Universal’s tools and benefits.

Qualifications

• Customer service experience is preferred.
• Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
• Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Background investigation will be conducted as required by law.
• A drug screen may be required where permitted by law.
• Licensing requirements vary by state and locality and may be required.
• A valid driver's license is required for driving positions only.

Responsibilities

• Provide customer service to students, staff, visitors, and contractors by following site procedures and emergency protocols.
• Conduct routine patrols of campus buildings, residence areas, walkways, parking areas, and perimeter locations.
• Respond to incidents, alarms, medical situations, and critical events in a calm, professional manner.
• Monitor access points and support access-control procedures; assist visitors with directions.
• Document daily activities, patrol observations, incidents, and maintenance issues in reports.

As an Unarmed Patrol Officer at a higher education location, you will conduct routine patrols, maintain a visible presence to help deter incidents, and support a welcoming campus environment. You will provide outstanding customer service, communicate clearly with students, staff, and visitors, and respond to security-related concerns with integrity and professionalism. What You'll Do:

• Provide customer service to students, faculty, staff, visitors, and/or contractors by carrying out site-specific procedures, policies, and appropriate emergency response activities.
• Conduct regular and random foot and/or vehicle patrols of campus buildings, residence areas, walkways, parking areas, and perimeter locations to help identify and report unusual conditions or unauthorized activity.
• Respond to incidents, alarms, medical situations, and critical events in a calm, problem-solving manner, following established protocols and contacting appropriate campus resources or emergency personnel.
• Monitor access points and support access-control procedures, assisting with visitor directions and reporting access-related concerns to the appropriate personnel.
• Document daily activities, patrol observations, incidents, and maintenance concerns through accurate reports and shift communications.

Minimum Requirements:

• Customer service experience is preferred.
• Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
• Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
• Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
• Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
