Job summary

Armorous Security is hiring a Security Officer for a Port assignment in Oakland, CA. The role is unarmed and full-time, with a Sunday–Wednesday schedule and 10:00 PM–6:00 AM shifts. The pay rate is $22.00 per hour, with a hiring bonus for fully BSIS compliant new hires.

You will perform access control, tours, incident reporting, and serve as the client liaison on shift. Qualifications include California BSIS Guard Registration, current training certificates, and at least 2 years of security

Qualifications

• Valid BSIS Security Guard Registration (California) is required.
• Current BSIS compliance with 8-hour initial training and 32-hour continuing education certificates.
• Minimum 2 years of security experience.
• Demonstrated leadership in a supervisory or senior role.
• Strong customer service and professional demeanor.
• Strong written communication for accurate logs and incident reports.
• Ability to stand and be on your feet for extended periods.
• Availability to work Tuesday through Saturday, 6:00 AM to 2:00 PM.

Responsibilities

• Check in/out visitors to the port following access procedures.
• Conduct security tours and complete hourly activity logs.
• Secure the area and respond to access violations professionally.
• Serve as primary liaison between Armorous and the client on shift.
• Ensure onsite officers perform duties; assist with training as needed.
• Assist with coverage needs including early-in, hold-over, and call-off coverage.
• Document incidents, maintenance concerns, and security observations in writing.
• Port duties include securing the main gate, preventing unauthorized access, watching CCTV, maintaining a log, and hourly tours.

New hires who join fully BSIS compliant are eligible for a $100 hiring bonus.
Full compliance includes your valid BSIS Guard Card, 8-hour initial training certificate, and 32-hour continuing education certificate.

What You Will Do

• Check in and check out all visitors to the port, following established access control procedures
• Conduct regular security tours and complete hourly activity logs
• Secure the area and respond to access violations or concerns professionally
• Serve as the primary point of communication between Armorous and the client on your shift
• Ensure all officers assigned to the site are completing their duties as assigned
• Support new hire training at the site as needed
• Assist with coverage needs including early-in, hold-over, and call-off coverage
• Document incidents, maintenance concerns, and security observations in writing

Port job duties:

• Securing the main gate
• Ensuring no unauthorized individuals gain access
• Watching CCTV cameras
• Checking in and out visitors
• Maintaining a log
• Conducting hourly tours
• Completing hourly activity logs
• This site involves partly driving and walking tours.

What This Role Looks Like

• This is a solo shift. Officers are present at the port 24/7 across multiple shifts
• This role requires significant standing and time on your feet throughout the shift
• You will be on site alone during your shift and are expected to work independently
• This is an unarmed role

Required Qualifications

• Valid BSIS Security Guard Registration (California)
• Current BSIS compliance, including 8-hour initial training certificate and 32-hour continuing education certificate
• Minimum 2 years of prior security experience
• Demonstrated leadership experience, either in a formal supervisory role or as a senior officer
• Strong customer service skills and professional demeanor
• Strong written communication skills for accurate activity log and incident report completion
• Ability to stand and remain on your feet for extended periods throughout the shift
• Availability to work Tuesday through Saturday, 6:00 AM to 2:00 PM

Preferred Qualifications

• TWIC card (Transportation Worker Identifier Credential). Officers without a TWIC at hire must obtain one as a condition of continued assignment
• Experience communicating directly with clients or supervisors as a site contact
• Prior experience with graveyard shifts

Site Add-On

Officers assigned to the Port operate in a federally regulated maritime environment. This assignment requires awareness of access control standards, attention to visitor credentialing, and a working understanding of security requirements in a port setting.

Officers are expected to conduct themselves professionally at all times given the client-facing nature of the role.
