As a Security Officer Full Time Entry Permission Specialist in Portsmouth, VA, you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Government, and more. As an Access Control Security Officer at a government transportation location, you will help manage entry points, verify credentials, monitor activity, and provide outstanding customer service and communication. Your visible presence will help deter security-related incidents while supporting a welcoming environment for authorized visitors and personnel. Position Type: Full Time

Pay Rate: $18.00 / Hour

Job Schedule:

• Mon 05:30 AM - 01:30 PM
• Tue 05:30 AM - 01:30 PM
• Wed 05:30 AM - 01:30 PM
• Thur 12:00 PM - 07:00 PM

What You'll Do:

• Provide customer service to employees, visitors, vendors, and drivers while carrying out site‑specific, security‑related procedures, access‑control policies, and emergency response activities at a government port facility.
• Monitor access points and verify credentials, visitor authorizations, vehicle permissions, and delivery documentation in accordance with site requirements.
• Control entry to restricted areas by maintaining accurate visitor, vehicle, and access records and reporting discrepancies to appropriate site contacts.
• Respond to incidents, alarms, access concerns, and critical situations in a calm, problem‑solving manner, following established reporting and escalation procedures.
• Conduct regular and random patrols of access points, terminal areas, buildings, and perimeter locations to help deter unauthorized activity and identify security‑related concerns.

Minimum Requirements:

• Possess a TSA‑issued TWIC.
• A guard card or license is preferred.
• Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
• Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
• Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
• Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
• A valid driver's license will be required for driving positions only.
