Job summary

Allied Universal® in Portsmouth, VA, is seeking a Part-Time Security Officer focused on access records at a government maritime facility. You will monitor entry points, verify credentials, and maintain a visible presence to deter incidents.

The role offers a flexible schedule (Mon 11:00 AM - 05:30 PM; Sat 01:30 PM - 09:30 PM) with a pay rate of $18.00 per hour. You will patrol, respond to incidents, and maintain visitor/access logs to support site operations.

Qualifications

• Provide customer service to visitors, employees, contractors, and/or vendors while carrying out site-specific access-control procedures.
• Monitor entry and exit points at a government maritime facility; check identification and authorization.
• Respond to access-control incidents and document observations according to site procedures.
• Conduct regular patrols of assigned areas and perimeter locations to deter unauthorized entry.
• Maintain accurate visitor, vehicle, and access records and communicate with site personnel.

What You'll Do:

Minimum Requirements:

• Possess a Transportation Worker Identification Credential issued by the Transportation Security Administration.
• A guard card or license is preferred.
• Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
• Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
• Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
• Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
• A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.
