Base pay range

$18.00/hr - $20.00/hr

This is a full-time position with varying shifts. Weekend availability required.

Summary

Protects and safeguards all hotel guests and associates, their belongings, and hotel assets. Responds rapidly to emergency and non-emergency requests in a professional manner.

Essential Functions
  • Responsible for the efficient and professional operation of the Security department.
  • Provide gracious hospitality to all customers. Adhere to all policies, procedures, and standards.
  • Recognize and report safety hazards.
  • Handle security-related incidents effectively.
  • Ensure compliance with hotel and security SOP/LSOP.
  • Observe and report security breaches.
  • Oversee key control systems.
  • Conduct daily hazard inspections and patrols, completing reports.
  • Assist associates with questions or problems.
  • Create a positive atmosphere throughout the hotel and maintain good relationships with staff and departments.
  • Identify and solve problems proactively.
  • Maintain a clean, neat, and organized work area.
  • Attend monthly meetings.
  • Maintain safety and security supplies.
  • Complete assigned projects on time.
  • Participate in the Safety Committee to educate and communicate hotel safety protocols.
Daily Responsibilities
  • Report on time in proper uniform, including name tag, maintaining personal appearance standards.
  • Check the information board, daily event sheet, and stay informed about daily operations.
  • Develop knowledge of hotel products, amenities, and services.
  • Learn about frequent guests and their preferences.
  • Be familiar with cultural differences to meet diverse customer needs.
  • Operate PMS, Saflok, security, and fire systems proficiently.
  • Manage staffing levels and control costs within budget.
  • Understand etiquette and protocols.
  • Be familiar with emergency plans and procedures.
  • Use PMS passwords responsibly; log off when not in use, ensuring colleagues do the same.
  • Have good knowledge of the city and environment.
  • Report unusual occurrences immediately to the Assistant Rooms Division Manager.
  • Follow Marriott and AHC’s Loss Prevention SOPs.
  • Always represent AHC professionally and courteously.

Physical requirements include pushing, pulling, bending, stooping, reaching, lifting 50+ pounds, prolonged standing, and walking.

Qualifications
  • Ability to walk and stand for 8+ hours.
  • Ability to ride a bicycle for patrols in warmer months.
  • Reasonable accommodations may be provided for individuals with disabilities.
Certificates, Licenses, and Registrations
  • Valid Michigan Driver’s License with 3 points or less.
  • AED/CPR/First Aid certification preferred.
  • Tips certification preferred.
Education and Experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
