Allied Universal in Houston, TX is seeking a Security Officer Enhanced Part Time Armed Patrol Operations. The role provides reliable, fixed shifts at an assigned site and the flexibility to earn more by picking up additional shifts across multiple sites while supporting the safety of visitors, employees and the public. Compensation is $18.84 per hour.

Qualifications

• 1 year law enforcement experience or 2 years security supervisor/manager experience or 3 years security experience
• Armed guard card or license
• College degree
• Customer service experience is preferred
• Access control and badge experience is preferred
• Be at least 21 years of age for armed roles
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Background check required by law and drug screen as applicable
• Participate in industry-specific security training programs
• Licensing requirements may be required prior to employment
• Valid driver’s license required for driving positions only

Responsibilities

• Provide customer service to visitors and staff while performing security procedures and emergency response
• Conduct regular and random armed patrols of assigned buildings, grounds, and perimeter areas
• Monitor access points and verify authorized entry according to site procedures
• Respond to incidents, alarms, disturbances, and critical situations calmly and report as required
• Maintain awareness of local laws and site policies for armed duties; document patrols and incidents

How This Role Works

• Fixed-Shift Commitment ("Anchor Shifts"): You will be hired for a designated site and weekly shift that serves as your reliable base schedule. This assignment requires a six (6) month commitment.
• Earn More, Claim‑A‑Shift Program: In addition to your fixed shift, you may pick‑up extra shifts through our scheduling platform, allowing you to increase earnings and gain experience across multiple sites. Work part‑time hours this week and full‑time the next. It’s all up to you.

This role is ideal for candidates seeking part-time employment with flexibility, income stability, and opportunities to build-up to a full‑time schedule of up to 40 hours per week; always with the option to scale back when needed.

Responsibilities

• Provide customer service to visitors, employees, and members of the public while carrying out security‑related procedures, site‑specific policies, and emergency response activities at government facilities.
• Conduct regular and random armed patrols of assigned buildings, grounds, parking areas, entry points, and perimeter areas to help deter unauthorized activity and report unusual conditions.
• Monitor access points and verify authorized entry in accordance with site procedures; communicate professionally with visitors and personnel regarding access requirements.
• Respond to incidents, alarms, disturbances, and critical situations in a calm, problem‑solving manner; notify appropriate personnel and complete required reports.
• Maintain awareness of local conditions, follow applicable laws and site policies related to armed duties, and document patrols, incidents, and other security‑related activities.

Minimum Requirements

• Possess at least 1 year of law enforcement experience, 2 years of security‑related supervisor or manager experience, or 3 years of security‑related experience.
• Possess an armed guard card or license.
• Possess a college degree.
• Customer service experience is preferred.
• Access control and badge experience is preferred.
• Be at least 21 years of age for armed roles.
• Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
• Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
• Participate in industry‑specific security training programs.
• Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
• A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.
