Job summary

Allied Universal is seeking a Security Officer – Part Time Enhanced in San Luis Obispo, CA. This role provides fixed morning shifts with reliable hours and the flexibility to pick up additional shifts through our scheduling platform.

As part of the security team, you will perform access-control procedures, monitor entry points, and respond to incidents, ensuring a safe site for drivers and staff at a distribution center.

Qualifications

• Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles.
• Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Background investigation required by federal/state/local laws.
• Allied Universal may consider applicants with criminal histories per law.
• Drug screen required where permitted by law.
• Licensing requirements may be required by state/local laws.
• A valid driver’s license is required for driving positions only.

Responsibilities

As a Security Officer Distribution Center in San Luis Obispo, CA, this role is designed to provide reliable, consistent hours at an assigned site with the flexibility for you to earn more by picking-up additional shifts when it works for you.

How This Role Works

• Fixed-Shift Commitment (“Anchor Shifts”): You will be hired for a designated site and weekly shift that serves as your reliable base schedule. This assignment requires a six (6) month commitment.
• Earn More, Claim-A-Shift Program: In addition to your fixed shift, you may pick-up extra shifts through our scheduling platform, allowing you to increase earnings and gain experience across multiple sites. Work part-time hours this week and full-time the next. It’s all up to you.

This role is ideal for candidates seeking part-time employment with flexibility, income stability, and opportunities to build-up to a full-time schedule of up to 40 hours per week; always with the option to scale back when needed.

Responsibilities

• Provide customer service to drivers, visitors, and employees by carrying out access-control procedures, site-specific policies, and when appropriate, emergency response activities at a logistics and distribution location.
• Monitor vehicle and pedestrian entry points; verify credentials, shipping-related documentation, and authorization before granting access in accordance with site procedures.
• Maintain accurate visitor, contractor, and vehicle access records; issue and collect access credentials as directed by site policy.
• Respond to incidents, access concerns, and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner; promptly communicate observations to appropriate personnel.
• Conduct regular and random patrols of entry areas, loading zones, parking areas, and the business perimeter to help deter unauthorized access and report security-related concerns.

Minimum Requirements

• Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
• Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
• Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
• Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
• A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.
