Qualifications

• LIC-Driver's License - STATE_MI Upon Hire
• CRT-First Aid - AHA/ARC (180 Days)
• CRT-Basic Life Support (BLS) - AHA/ARC (180 Days) or
• CRT-Basic Life Support (BLS) - ARC (180 Days).

Responsibilities

• Maintain highly visible foot and vehicle patrols to deter incidents.
• Document information on incident reports in a thorough, factual manner.
• Provide access control for secured areas and assist staff and visitors.
• Communicate with patients, visitors, and healthcare teams as needed.
• Respond to and investigate suspicious, criminal or emergency situations.
• Engage in ongoing study to maintain professional competence and renew certifications.

Job Summary

The Security Officer plays a critical role in protecting organizational assets, inventory, facilities, and team members at Corewell Health's Consolidated Service Center. This position is primarily focused on asset protection, loss prevention, risk mitigation, and security operations within a large warehouse and distribution environment.

Responsibilities include monitoring facility access, conducting patrols, investigating suspicious activity, preventing theft and unauthorized removal of property, monitoring security systems, supporting inventory protection efforts, and responding to security incidents. The Security Officer works closely with operational teams to identify potential risks, maintain a secure workplace, and protect the organization's resources.

This role is ideal for candidates with experience or interest in loss prevention, asset protection, warehouse security, retail investigations, distribution center security, or law enforcement. Successful candidates demonstrate strong observational skills, attention to detail, sound judgment, and the ability to proactively identify and address security concerns.

As a visible security presence, the Security Officer helps ensure a safe, secure, and efficient operation while protecting the people, property, and assets that support Corewell Health's mission.

Essential Functions

• Maintains highly visible foot and vehicle patrols to detect or deter fire, accidents, violations of hospital policies and criminal acts
• Documents information on incident reports and other required documents in a thorough, factual and timely manner
• Assists employees, visitors, and patients with directions, lost and found items, vehicle assistance, escorts, and other requests for assistance. Provides access control for secured areas
• Communicates, collaborates with, and provides appropriate information to patients, visitors, and members of the health care team
• Manages verbal / physical conflicts using verbal de-escalation, physical presence, restraint techniques or other appropriate legal force options
• Responds to and investigates suspicious, criminal or emergency situations
• Engages in continuous study of the entire professional field, including best practices, to maintain the professional competence, knowledge, and skills necessary for the satisfactory performance of all assigned responsibilities
• Completes required ongoing training and education, including department specific requirements. Maintains required licensure and certifications

Required

• High School Diploma or equivalent

• 2 years of relevant related experience
• Law Enforcement Academy or Military (active duty) experience in an environment of comparable size and complexity
