Job summary

Allied Universal in San Jose, CA is seeking an Armed Security Officer (Armed Patrol) to protect transit facilities and personnel. You will perform armed patrols, respond to incidents, and maintain customer service standards across a dynamic, public-facing environment.

The role requires an armed guard card, a valid .40 caliber endorsement, and at least one year of security or related experience, with a valid driver’s license if driving is involved.

Responsibilities

• Monitor access points and report suspicious activity to appropriate personnel.
• Prepare clear reports on patrols and incidents and coordinate with law enforcement when directed.

What You'll Do:

• Provide customer service to transit agency personnel, passengers, contractors, and visitors while carrying out site-specific security-related procedures, policies, and emergency response activities.
• Conduct regular and random armed patrols of transit facilities, administrative areas, parking locations, platforms, perimeter areas, and other assigned government transportation locations.
• Respond to incidents, disturbances, alarms, and critical situations in a calm, professional, problem-solving manner, following applicable post orders and armed response protocols.
• Monitor access points and observe activity throughout assigned areas, reporting suspicious activity, hazards, and security-related concerns to appropriate personnel.
• Prepare clear and accurate reports regarding patrols, incidents, observations, and interactions, and coordinate with law enforcement and emergency responders when directed.

Minimum Requirements:

• A valid driver’s license is required in accordance with Allied Universal driver policy requirements.
• Possess at least one year of armed security-related, law enforcement, or military experience.
• Possess a valid armed guard card or license.
• Possess a valid .40 caliber endorsement.
• Be at least 21 years of age for armed roles.
• Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
• Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
• Participate in industry-specific security training programs.
• Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
• A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.
