Job summary

Allied Universal in Reston, VA is seeking a Security Officer – Part Time Enhanced to provide reliable, consistent hours at an assigned site with the flexibility to earn more by picking up additional shifts when it works for you.

Pay rate is $21.74 per hour. The role includes fixed-anchor shifts and optional extra shifts via our scheduling platform, with a path toward full-time schedules if desired.

Qualifications

• At least two years of security-related experience.
• Armed guard card or license required.
• High school diploma or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Provide customer service to patients, visitors, staff, and/or contractors by carrying out security-related procedures, site-specific policies, and emergency response activities as appropriate.
• Respond to incidents, medical emergencies, and critical situations in a calm, professional, problem-solving manner, following site protocols and notifying appropriate personnel.
• Conduct regular and random unarmed patrols throughout healthcare facilities, parking areas, entrances, and perimeter locations to help identify unusual activity, hazards, and/or policy concerns.
• Monitor access points and visitor activity in accordance with site procedures, assisting with directions and maintaining awareness of restricted areas.
• Document observations, incidents, and patrol activities accurately and communicate relevant information to site leadership and emergency responders as needed.

Pay Rate: $21.74 / Hour

Job Schedule:

DayTimeSat07:00 PM - 07:00 AM Sun07:00 PM - 07:00 AM

How This Role Works:

• Fixed-Shift Commitment (“Anchor Shifts”): You will be hired for a designated site and weekly shift that serves as your reliable base schedule. This assignment requires a six (6) month commitment.
• Earn More, Claim-A-Shift Program: In addition to your fixed shift, you may pick‑up extra shifts through our scheduling platform, allowing you to increase earnings and gain experience across multiple sites. Work part‑time hours this week and full‑time the next. It’s all up to you.

This role is ideal for candidates seeking part-time employment with flexibility, income stability, and opportunities to build‑up to a full‑time schedule of up to 40 hours per week; always with the option to scale back when needed.

Minimum Requirements:

• Possess at least two years of security‑related experience.
• Possess a valid armed guard card or license.
• Be comfortable using a computer or tablet, preferred.
• Have customer service experience, preferred.
• Experience using handcuffs, pepper spray, and/or a baton is preferred.
• Be at least 21 years of age for armed roles.
• Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
• Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
• Participate in industry‑specific security training programs.
• Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
• A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.
