Job summary

Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts is seeking a Security Officer to protect staff, guests, and property across the campus. The role covers 8-hour shifts, 40 hours weekly, with weekend work and potential overtime to support operations.

The position is full-time and unionized under Local 32BJ, with benefits eligibility after 90 days. Responsibilities include surveillance, incident reporting, post security, and coordination with other departments.

Qualifications

  • Current New York State Security License required (8 and 16 Hour Certificates).
  • Valid NYS Security Guard License.
  • Valid F-04 Fire Guard License (LC will Give 60 days to obtain).
  • Valid S60 Watch Person at Construction sites (LC will give 60 days to obtain).
  • AED and CPR certification (LC will give 60 days to obtain).

Responsibilities

  • Protect Lincoln Center staff, patrons, community, and campus property.
  • Escort and/or apprehend trespassers and violators of campus rules.
  • Secure and survey assigned posts during shifts.
  • Communicate vital information within and across departments.
  • Attend daily roll calls and maintain professional appearance.
  • Operate handheld radio as needed.
  • Set up and use Evolt/ Evol v Edge equipment when required (security hardware).
  • Report suspicious incidences to management in detail.

Job description

Position: Security Officer

Department: Security

Lincoln Center is a sixteen-acre campus open to the public and operational on a 24x7, 365-day basis. The Security team is responsible for maintaining the safety of all the public, patrons, and employees in public areas of the campus, including select indoor venues and events. Security Officers are scheduled to work 8-hour shifts and may work at any time of the day or night, and any day within the week.

The position is full-time (40 hours per week) and may be of Regular or Temporary status as business needs dictate. Weekend work is a requirement. Voluntary overtime is available, with occasional mandatory overtime to support operational needs.

The position is a union-represented role and employees are required to join the Local 32BJ union within 30 days of employment. Employees are eligible for benefits following 90 days of employment.

Responsibilities
  • Protect Lincoln Center staff, patrons, community, and campus property
  • Prevent, escort and/or apprehend trespassers and persons who violate the rules and regulations of the Lincoln Center campus and/or buildings
  • Secure and survey assigned Post at the beginning of, throughout and end of tour
  • Clearly communicate vital information and intelligence within, LCPA departments and across the LCPA campus to promote collaboration and coordination on events/incidents
  • Attend Daily Roll Calls and keep abreast of campus updates, maintain a professional appearance, and always carry required equipment
  • Properly perform assigned duties
  • Be responsible for the set-up and use of the Evolv Technology, when needed
  • Report Suspicious incidences to management in detail
  • Be able to operate a handheld radio
Central Security Desk
  • Assist CSD Supervisors in the maintaining all technology located in the LCPA Central Security Desk room (Including, but not limited to: Genetec VMS, Alert Media, Public address system, electronic information board, video feed to ATH and DGH stages)
  • Ensure that CSD maintains the Genetec VMS system and all cameras
  • Ensure that all calls for service to our contracted Securitas Integrator are completed within contract guidelines and brought to the attention of Security
Qualifications
  • Current New York State Security License required (8 and 16 Hour Certificates)
  • Valid NYS Security Guard License.
  • Valid F-04 Fire Guard License (LC will Give 60 days to obtain)
  • Valid S60 Watch Person at Construction sites (LC will give 60 days to obtain)
  • AED and CPR certification. (LC will give 60 days to obtain)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with a professional customer service manner
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure, be proactive and calm under pressure
  • Demonstrated ability to interact with and provide stellar service to outside agency partners, patrons, and employees at all levels of the organization
  • Be detail-oriented, well-organized, with the ability to juggle multiple priorities
  • Experience with security hardware and software. (I.E. Evol v Edge, Genetec VMS, AED)
  • Work with current ADP Workforce Now to sign in and out as required
  • Ability and willingness to work a flexible work schedule, to include evenings and weekends
  • Must be able to work outside in all-weather elements
  • Must be able to perform mandatory overtime tours within contractual guidelines
  • Must be able to comply with LC Security guidelines and protocols
