Job summary

The Westin Nashville is seeking a part-time Security Officer to maintain a secure, welcoming environment for guests and staff. You will patrol the hotel, monitor cameras and access control, respond to incidents, and assist guests during emergencies.

Ideal candidates have a high school diploma, hotel security experience, and a valid security license or ability to obtain one. CPR/First Aid is preferred; flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays is required.

The Security Officer plays a crucial role in maintaining a secure and welcoming environment for everyone who enters our doors. Your presence and proactive approach will be essential in preventing incidents, responding to emergencies, and providing a sense of security throughout the hotel.

Essential Functions:

• Conduct regular patrols of the hotel premises, including guest floors, public areas, back-of-house areas, and exterior grounds, to identify and address potential security risks, safety hazards, and suspicious activity.
• Monitor surveillance cameras, alarm systems, and access control systems, promptly responding to alerts and taking appropriate action.
• Control access to the hotel and restricted areas, verifying credentials and directing visitors as needed.
• Respond to and investigate disturbances, complaints, accidents, and other incidents, documenting findings accurately and thoroughly in incident reports.
• Provide assistance to guests and employees in emergency situations, including medical emergencies, fire alarms, and security threats, following established protocols and procedures.
• Enforce hotel policies and procedures, addressing violations in a professional and consistent manner.
• Maintain a visible presence to deter potential criminal activity and provide a sense of security.
• Assist with lost and found procedures, logging items and attempting to reunite them with their owners.
• Provide escorts for guests or employees as requested or required.
• Collaborate effectively with local law enforcement, fire departments, and other emergency responders when necessary.
• Maintain a daily log of activities, observations, and any incidents that occur during your shift.
• Conduct regular safety inspections and report any unsafe conditions or maintenance issues.

Other Tasks:

• Assist with guest inquiries and provide directions or information as needed.
• Assist with luggage handling or other guest service requests during peak periods or as directed.
• Participate in safety and security training programs.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Security Supervisor or Hotel Management.

Qualifications:

• Knowledge of basic security procedures and safety protocols.
• Ability to operate security equipment, including CCTV systems and alarm panels.
• Basic computer skills for report writing and communication.
• Must be able to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• Must possess a professional demeanor and appearance.
