A Security Officer takes part in servicing our guests around our beautiful Resort. A Security Officer is responsible for ensuring the safety of our Guests and our Team Members and the security of the Resort. In the Resort's continuing effort to deliver outstanding guest service and financial profitability, the Security Officer will ensure the safety of all functions in a courteous and restrained manner in coping with emergencies, undesired conduct, disturbances and threats to life and property to maintain a safe and secure environment.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

• Spend majority of shift on foot patrol, walking, climbing stairs of the interior and perimeter of the hotel to observe and identify potential security and safety risks or undesirable conditions.
• Maintain order in the hotel, dealing with the welfare of guests, and assisting with door lock problems. Coordinate expedient response to emergency conditions such as fire, fire or safety hazards and threats to life and/or property in a calm, rational and persuasive manner.
• Watch for suspicious persons entering, exiting, or loitering around the building.
• Answer security telephone and safety hotline calls and respond in a timely manner based on priority.
• Observe the security monitors for any unusual activity and report suspicious behavior directly to the supervisor on duty.
• Memorize and monitor life safety system installed at the property including layout of the entire building, alarm pull stations, and location of fire extinguishers.
• Comply with attendance rules and be available to work on a regular basis.
• Perform any other job-related duties as assigned.

SUPPORTIVE FUNCTIONS:

• Provide accurate information to inquiries for directions and hours of operations.
• Receive, record and secure found property. Research and respond to guests' inquiries for lost property.
• Assist guests with door lock and in-room safe problems.
• Escort guests and employees as required to parking lots.
• Other duties as assigned by Supervisor.

SPECIFIC JOB KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY:

• Thorough knowledge of the floor plans and layout of the building(s).
• Ability to effectively deal with internal and external customers with patience, tact, and diplomacy.
• Ability to listen effectively, speak, read and write English clearly.
• Ability to stand, walk and/or sit and continuously perform essential job functions for the duration of the shift.
• Hearing and visual ability to observe and detect signs of emergency situations.
• Ability to grasp, lift and/or carry or otherwise move goods weighing up to 50 lbs.
• Ability to climb stairs and ladders at a rapid pace.
• Ability to perform duties within extreme temperature ranges.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Must have the ability to communicate in English. Self-starting personality with an even disposition. Maintain a professional appearance and manner at all times. Ability to stand, walk and/or sit and continuously perform essential job functions for the duration of the shift. Hearing and visual ability to observe and detect signs of emergency situations. Ability to perform tasks requiring bending, stooping, kneeling, and walking significant distances between and within buildings on the property.
