Overview
The Security Officer provides personal safety for all persons on hospital premises. They patrol hospital grounds and buildings to prevent fire, theft, and vandalism. The officer patrols buildings and grounds and maintains current information in all security logs.
Responsibilities
- Patrol
- Conduct rounds of hospital buildings and grounds to ensure safety and prevent theft and vandalism.
- Inspect doors, windows, and locks to assure security. Document all security breaches.
- Ensure only authorized personnel are on hospital grounds. Unlock doors for authorized personnel only.
- Inspect buildings and grounds during rounds and report all relevant safety issues.
- Ensure the personal safety of hospital personnel, patients, and visitors on campus. Escort visitors, patients, and employees to and from buildings and parking areas.
- Respond promptly to all Code Red and disaster alerts.
- Report safety and fire hazards observed during patrols.
- Respond immediately to incidents and carry out procedures according to department plans.
Customer Assistance- Act as a liaison with Flagstaff Fire and Police Departments, maintaining professional relationships with outside law enforcement and emergency agencies.
- Accept patient valuables and lost and found items; maintain accurate documentation of valuables and items in the safe or lost and found locker.
- Assist in making deliveries for hospital departments when these do not interrupt security operations; prioritize deliveries as time permits.
Documentation- Investigate unusual circumstances reported by staff or visitors and complete Security Incident Reports with all details.
- Maintain logs reflecting duties performed.
- Document fire and disaster responses accurately.
Compliance/Safety- Report safety incidents promptly using the Midas/RDE tool. Attend safety training and perform work safely, including the use of necessary weapons like tasers.
- Complete all mandatory and job-specific training within the required timeframes.
- Stay current with and comply with relevant state and federal regulations and company policies.
Qualifications
- Education: High School Diploma or GED (Preferred)
- Certification & Licenses:
- Valid Arizona Driver's License with no moving violations in the past 39 months (Required upon hire)
- BLS (American Heart Association) certification (Required within 3 months)
- IAHSS certification (Required within 3 months)
- AVADE certification (Required within 3 months)
- Fingerprint Clearance Card application number (Required upon hire)
- Fingerprint Clearance Card (Required within 90 days)
- Taser certification (Preferred)
Experience: Some background in law enforcement, security, or military (Preferred)Understanding of computers and basic software programs, as healthcare environments utilize technology extensively.
