The GEO Group is hiring for a full-time security-focused position at our Newark facility. You will maintain alertness to protect residents, operate equipment, document events, and support daily security operations.

You will patrol, log counts, and verify IDs while communicating professionally with residents and staff to maintain safety and order, in a role with comprehensive benefits and stable hours.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• One year general work experience; related field preferred.
• Strong organizational skills to maintain workflow.
• Ability to express thoughts logically, in writing and verbally.
• Demonstrated flexibility to perform a wide range of duties.
• Ability to interact effectively with staff and residents.
• Ability to motivate and create enthusiasm toward work ethic.
• Ability to work with computers and facility software.

Responsibilities

• Ensure equipment for each watch is operational and prepare shift documentation.
• Receive information from previous shift and log entries accordingly.
• Conduct radio checks and facility counts; log results.
• Patrol the building to monitor residents and ensure security.
• Verify building picture board and bed slot assignments.
• Organize resident work details to meet cleanliness and contract requirements.
• Conduct urinalysis, pat downs, shakedowns, counts, or breath tests.
• Document disciplinary actions and log them per procedures.
• Perform routine cleanliness checks of facility and belongings.
• Welcome visitors and verify identities with professionalism.
• Communicate with residents and staff to maintain respect and cooperation.
• Participate in meetings, sharing observations to resolve issues.
