Security Manager - must be available to work overnight shifts

Status Salaried, Exempt

Reports to General Manager

GENERAL PURPOSE

The Security Manager is responsible for overseeing and enhancing all aspects of the hotel’s security operations. This role ensures the safety and security of guests, team members, and property through proactive monitoring, emergency response coordination, and leadership of the security team.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities

• Provide leadership, coaching, and supervision to all security personnel.
• Ensure procedures are followed for the security of guests, associates, and financial transactions.
• Maintain order throughout the hotel, address guest welfare concerns, and assist with door lock issues.
• Coordinate timely responses to emergency situations such as fires, safety hazards, or threats to life/property.
• Respond to and manage incidents involving policy violations, undesired conduct, or suspicious activity.
• Conduct regular security patrols and monitor for loitering or unusual behavior.
• Promote and enforce safe work practices.
• Answer security and emergency hotline calls, responding based on priority.
• Monitor all security systems and, when required, observe surveillance monitors for any unusual activity or alarm triggers; report all findings to the General Manager and Director of Engineering immediately.
• Maintain working knowledge of all life safety systems, including building layout, alarm stations, fire extinguishers, and sprinkler control locations.
• Ensure proper security shift reports are delivered daily to Executive management.
• Facilitate positive, professional interactions with local law enforcement, fire departments, and regulatory authorities to ensure effective coordination and compliance during on-site incidents or inspections.
  
  
  

SUPERVISORY DUTIES –Security Staff

Job Qualifications

• Prior experience in security operations, preferably in a service-oriented environment, is required.
• Prior experience in the hospitality industry is strongly preferred.
• Prior supervisory experience is required.
• Certified in life safety protocols, including AED/CPR; First Responder certification is a plus.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
• Professional demeanor, self-motivated, and able to maintain composure under pressure.
• Consistently presents a polished, professional appearance and attitude.
• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively engage with guests and team members.
• Collaborative mindset with a willingness to assist colleagues and contribute to a team-oriented culture.
• Comprehensive knowledge of the property layout, including function rooms; familiarity with the local area is beneficial.
• Capable of performing all essential duties with or without reasonable accommodation.
  
  
  

PHYSICAL ENVIRONMENT:

• Ability to perform tasks requiring bending, stooping, kneeling, and walking significant distances between and within buildings on the property.
• Ability to grasp, lift and/or carry or otherwise move goods weighing a maximum of 150 lbs.
• Ability to climb stairs and ladders at a rapid pace.
• Ability to stand, walk and/or sit and continuously perform essential job functions for duration of shift.
• Requires grasping, lifting and or carrying or otherwise moving persons, packages, luggage, wheelchairs and safety equipment using manual dexterity of hands.
• Sufficient manual dexterity in hands.
• Hearing and visual ability to observe and detect signs of emergency situations.
