Job summary

University of Texas at Austin seeks an ATL Security and IT Manager at Pickle Research Campus to lead secure IT operations and DoD-compliant cybersecurity. The role guides regulatory compliance, risk management, and IT governance for defense-focused research programs within ARL and the Advanced Technology Laboratory.

The position requires a Bachelor’s degree and 8+ years in regulated IT/cybersecurity, DoD program experience, and a US citizenship.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Engineering, or related field.
Eight years of IT and cybersecurity experience in a regulated or federal environment.
Experience supporting DoD, UARC, FFRDC, or defense contractor programs.
Working knowledge of NIST-based cybersecurity frameworks and accreditation processes.
US Citizenship. Applicant selected will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.

Responsibilities

Lead secure IT infrastructure operations, including research networks, compute environments, storage, and endpoint management.
Oversee cybersecurity strategy and implementation aligned with NIST, RMF, CMMC, and related DoD frameworks.
Manage risk assessments, vulnerability management, incident response, and audit readiness.
Ensure compliance with CUI, ITAR/EAR, and sponsor-specific security requirements.
Develop and enforce IT governance, policies, and security procedures.
Lead and mentor IT/security staff; manage budgets and vendor relationships.
Serve as primary liaison to laboratory IT, security offices, and DoD stakeholders.
Other related functions as assigned.
