Allied Universal is hiring a Part Time Unarmed Security Guard in Norfolk, VA. The role includes patrolling campus areas, providing customer service to students and staff, and maintaining a visible security presence on a university campus.

The position offers a part-time schedule with day and evening shifts and a starting pay rate of $16.00 per hour. Ideal candidates will be 18+, have a high school diploma, and pass background and drug screenings where permitted by law.

Qualifications

• Be at least 18 years old for unarmed roles.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
• Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
• Drug screen required to the extent permitted by law.
• Licensing requirements subject to state/local laws; may be required prior to employment.
• A valid driver’s license required for driving positions only.

Responsibilities

• Provide customer service to students, faculty, staff, visitors, and campus partners while carrying out site-specific procedures and emergency response activities as appropriate.
• Conduct regular and random unarmed patrols of campus buildings, grounds, parking areas, and perimeter locations to help identify unusual conditions and help deter unauthorized activity.
• Respond to incidents, alarms, and critical situations in a calm, professional, problem-solving manner, following established reporting and escalation procedures.
• Monitor access points and campus activity, communicate observations to appropriate personnel, and document security-related incidents accurately.
• Assist with directions, escorts, and other campus support needs while maintaining a professional presence in an educational environment.
