Job summary

The San Antonio Public Library seeks a security supervisor to oversee patrol and guard operations at the Central Library, 600 Soledad, San Antonio, TX. Under immediate supervision, you will coordinate contract security, assign staff, and ensure safety for guests and staff across a large city library facility.

You will train security personnel, monitor CCTV and fire alarm systems, investigate incidents, conduct patrols to deter theft and disturbances, and maintain accurate records, including cash

Job description

Under immediate supervision, is responsible for performing a full range of patrol and security work at a City facility or related area. Exercises functional supervision. May exercise direct supervision over assigned staff.

Central Library-600 Soledad, San Antonio, TX 78205

Work Hours

The work schedule will vary to include evenings, overnights, and weekends based on business needs of the department

• Supervises, briefs, and dispatches contract security as required.
• Trains and instructs security staff as needed.
• Monitors closed circuit T.V. and fire alarm systems.
• Investigates incidents and activities.
• Patrols assigned areas to eliminate or report fire hazards, deter thefts, vandals, or violence and communicates through the use of a two- way radio.
• Monitors and maintains station at entry/exit point to City activities by observing, walking, reaching, twisting, and kneeling.
• Conducts operating cash count to ensure that all monies are accounted for.
• Maintains inventory of equipment using office equipment.
• Performs related duties and fulfills responsibilities as required.

• High school diploma or GED equivalent (recognized by the Texas Education Agency or a regional accrediting agency).
• Three (3) years' experience in a security related job.
• Valid Class "C" Texas Driver's License.
• Security Guard Certification highly desirable.

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior Dispatch and Incident Report Writing experience.
• Facility and Event Security experience.
• Camera surveillance experience.
• Microsoft Office, verbal and written communication skills.

Applicant Information

• Unless otherwise stated, applicants are permitted to substitute two years of related full-time experience for one year of higher education or one year of related higher education for two years of experience in order to meet the minimum requirements of the job. One year of full-time experience is defined as 30 or more hours worked per week for 12 months. One year of higher education is defined as 30 credit hours completed at an accredited college or university.
