Job summary

City of San Antonio is seeking a security professional to perform a full range of patrol and security work at a City facility, under supervision. The role involves supervising staff, dispatching contract security, monitoring CCTV and alarms, and responding to incidents at the Central Library in San Antonio.

The position requires a high school diploma or GED, 3 years of security experience, a valid Texas Class C license, and ideally a Security Guard Certification.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED equivalent (Texas TEA or regional accrediting agency).
• Three (3) years' experience in a security related job.
• Valid Class C Texas Driver's License.
• Security Guard Certification highly desirable.

Responsibilities

• Supervises, briefs, and dispatches contract security as required.
• Trains and instructs security staff as needed.
• Monitors CCTV and fire alarm systems.
• Investigates incidents and activities.
• Patrols assigned areas to deter thefts, vandalism, or violence and communicates via two-way radio.
• Maintains entry/exit point observation at City activities.
• Conducts operating cash count and ensures monies are accounted for.
• Maintains inventory of equipment using office equipment.
• Performs related duties as required.

Job description

Under immediate supervision, is responsible for performing a full range of patrol and security work at a City facility or related area. Exercises functional supervision. May exercise direct supervision over assigned staff.

Work Location

Central Library - 600 Soledad, San Antonio, TX 78205

Work Hours

The work schedule will vary to include evenings, overnights, and weekends based on business needs of the department

• Supervises, briefs, and dispatches contract security as required.
• Trains and instructs security staff as needed.
• Monitors closed circuit T.V. and fire alarm systems.
• Investigates incidents and activities.
• Patrols assigned areas to eliminate or report fire hazards, deter thefts, vandals, or violence and communicates through the use of a two- way radio.
• Monitors and maintains station at entry/exit point to City activities by observing, walking, reaching, twisting, and kneeling.
• Conducts operating cash count to ensure that all monies are accounted for.
• Maintains inventory of equipment using office equipment.
• Performs related duties and fulfills responsibilities as required.

• High school diploma or GED equivalent (recognized by the Texas Education Agency or a regional accrediting agency).
• Three (3) years' experience in a security related job.
• Valid Class "C" Texas Driver's License.
• Security Guard Certification highly desirable.

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior Dispatch and Incident Report Writing experience.
• Facility and Event Security experience.
• Camera surveillance experience.
• Microsoft Office, verbal and written communication skills.

• Unless otherwise stated, applicants are permitted to substitute two years of related full-time experience for one year of higher education or one year of related higher education for two years of experience in order to meet the minimum requirements of the job. One year of full-time experience is defined as 30 or more hours worked per week for 12 months. One year of higher education is defined as 30 credit hours completed at an accredited college or university.
