Essential Functions

• Continually monitor the front door for safety and security purposes.
• Check all incoming/outgoing traffic of clients, visitors and staff. Ensure clients sign in the log before giving keys and sign out when leaving. Verify no program private property is taken.
• Maintain log entries on traffic.
• Notify program staff of security violations and, when necessary, the NYPD. Prevent clients from bringing in alcoholic beverages, contraband, drugs, weapons or prohibited electronic equipment.
• Follow procedures to secure, report, control and dispose of confiscated contraband.
• Patrol the building and outside courtyards at least once every three hours during the day and once every hour during evening and nights. Inspect halls, stairs, public bathrooms and report hazards to the Assistant Program Director via Log Book.
• Clear public areas of loitering residents.
• Report to the Assistant Program Director any unusual violation of house rules.
• Keep log entries of violations of house rules.
• Attend mandated in-service training programs and meetings.

Qualifications – Education and Experience Requirements

• High School diploma.
• 8- and 16‑hour Security Guard Training Certificate; New York State Security Guard License.
• At least one or two years of experience in security or healthcare field.
• Experience with homeless individuals, chronic mental illness, substance abuse individuals is a plus.
• Bilingual Spanish preferred.
