Job summary

Echelon Risk + Cyber is seeking a hands-on Manager, Security Engineering to lead our MSSP Services team in Washington, DC. You will manage Senior Security Engineers, balance billable work with leadership, and drive security across client engagements.

Responsibilities include security assessments, cloud security (Azure/AWS), IAM, DLP, and incident response. You will mentor engineers, shape practice standards, and collaborate with sales on scoping.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or related field.
• Relevant certifications: CCSP, CISSP, CEH, CISM, or similar.
• 5+ years as a Senior Security Engineer or equivalent technical role, incl. MSP/MSSP experience.
• 2+ years of direct people management experience.
• Balance personal billable work (60%+ utilization) with leadership duties.
• Strong knowledge of cloud, network, endpoint, and identity security.
• Proven ability to manage multiple client engagements with quality results.
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills; able to coach staff and engage clients.

Responsibilities

• Directly manage a team of Senior Security Engineers and oversee performance and development.
• Set utilization, quality, and engagement targets; cover at-risk client environments.
• Review technical work for clients, configurations, findings, remediation, and playbooks.
• Serve as escalation point for complex issues and scope ambiguities.
• Lead hiring, onboarding, and ramp planning for new engineers.
• Identify skill gaps and deliver internal training and playbooks.
• Staffing and capacity planning in partnership with delivery leadership.
• Oversee incident response coverage and on-call rotation.
• Carry own portfolio of client engagements, enforcing security policies.
