Job summary

SkySlope, headquartered in Sacramento, CA, seeks a Security Engineering Manager to design and lead our security program. This player-coach role combines hands-on technical leadership with strategic roadmap and AI governance to reduce risk across multi-cloud environments.

You will hire and grow a security team, collaborate with DevOps, IT, and product, and report on progress to executives. A pragmatic, delivery-focused mindset is essential.

Qualifications

• Senior IC security/engineering background with hands-on leadership.
• Experience designing and delivering a security program from zero.
• Deep cloud security experience across IAM, federation, secrets, SDLC, and logging.
• Experience building and mentoring security engineers.
• Ability to communicate with executives and engineers.
• Interest in applying AI to security engineering.

Responsibilities

• Design and execute SkySlope's security engineering program.
• Own security roadmap across identity, least privilege, secrets, SDLC, and AI governance.
• Prioritize program to maximize risk reduction per engineering effort.
• Maintain security-debt register as a prioritized backlog.
• Own security tooling, vendor decisions, and build-vs-buy decisions.
• Provide clear executive reporting on status and risk.
• Lead architecture reviews; contribute hands-on when needed.
• Set technical bar for security engineering.
• Hire and grow the security team; coach direct reports.
• Partner with DevOps, IT, and product to embed security standards.
• Communicate early and often with stakeholders.
• Apply AI as security force multiplier; define guardrails.
