Job summary

New York Power Authority is seeking a Security Guard to enforce rules and safeguard facilities. Under general supervision, you will control access points, badge visitors, and conduct patrols to prevent unauthorized entry. The role includes reporting and coordinating with law enforcement as needed.

You’ll perform inspections, operate security systems and paging, and assist with emergency response. Health, clear communication, and NYS security licensing are required.

Qualifications

• High School diploma required.
• Two years experience in related field and NY driver license.
• Must obtain NYS Security Guard License and pass background checks.

Responsibilities

• Control all points of vehicle and personnel access to prevent unauthorized entry.
• Badge visitors, contractors and vendors and provide security escorts.
• Conduct searches for unauthorized materials and patrol the facility.
• Detect trespassers and foster relationships with local law enforcement.
• Inspect safety equipment and respond to emergencies on site.
• Provide crowd control for events and operate PBX/system paging.
• Attend training for Emergency Response Team participation and reporting.
