Job summary

Harvard Protection Services is seeking a Security Officer to deliver professional, customer-focused security and life safety services at a Harvard location in Boston. Qualifications

• Must have reliable means of communication and transportation.
• Strong interpersonal communication skills and neat and professional appearance.
• Previous contract security, law enforcement, military, or customer service experience is helpful.

Responsibilities

• Provide concierge services to residents, employees, and guests.
• Maintain a professional demeanor and assist customers, employees, visitors, and guests.
• Maintain a visible security presence in the assigned facility/building.
• Monitor the environment and detect suspicious or unsafe activity.
• Know incoming/outgoing traffic, and identify customers, tenants, visitors, and guests.
• Greet people in a professional manner at all times.
• Answer phones professionally.
• Control access: permit authorized entry and monitor entrances/exits.
• Know and enforce facility policies and procedures within role limits.
• Perform patrols on foot or by vehicle.
• Observe departing personnel to prevent theft and ensure proper removal of property.
• Follow established emergency action plans and procedures.
• Monitor alarms and security systems and prepare incident reports.
