Spirit AeroSystems, Inc. in Kansas is seeking an experienced Operations Manager to lead planning, development, and control of multiple operations areas within Spirit Defense.

You will drive performance against contracts, schedules, and cost targets while promoting teamwork and a culture of continuous improvement across the facility. The role requires 6+ years in manufacturing leadership, excellent communication, and a proven track record in lean practices and financial acumen within a unionized

Qualifications

• 6+ years in a management role within manufacturing/operations
• Excellent written and verbal communication
• Effective planning, problem solving and decision making
• Highly customer focused with ability to liaise with internal/external stakeholders
• Demonstrated leadership and financial acumen
• Knowledge and experience of lean practices in manufacturing

Responsibilities

• Oversee planning, development, and control of operations to meet contracts, schedules, specs, and targets
• Ensure measurement, control, and systems drive operational objectives
• Promote teamwork, accountability, and customer focus
• Plan and monitor utilization of human/material resources to meet programs and drive performance
• Support lean enterprise initiatives for agility in quality, cost, and delivery
• Motivate and develop staff and manage performance in line with business goals
• Collaborate with HR for productive labor relations and union environment
• Drive a culture of teamwork, accountability, customer focus and continuous improvement
• Provide direction to Operations Team using performance management processes
• Implement Safety, Health and Environment plans across the facility
• Maintain communications with employees, labor representatives, customers and suppliers
• Plan succession, people management, recruitment and retention strategies
• Own day-to-day performance, quality, delivery, budget for the team
