Job summary

Amazon Development Center U.S., Inc. in Arlington, VA is seeking a Systems Development Engineer I to own and advance mission-critical services in our ADC.

This role focuses on resilient, high-performance government cloud systems and requires TS/SCI with Polygraph clearance. You will design, implement, and support solutions at scale, working with Linux, networking, and software development to enable secure cloud capabilities for agencies.

Qualifications

• Experience with Linux/Unix in large-scale environments.
• Solid networking knowledge and understanding of how servers and networks inter-relate.
• 1+ years of professional software development experience.
• Experience designing or architecting reliable, scalable systems.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to design and delivery of technology solutions that improve resilience, performance, and efficiency.
• Work on well-defined components with guidance from senior engineers, growing toward autonomy.
• Identify and escalate architectural issues and deficiencies with senior team support.
• Participate in design, scoping, and prioritization discussions, learning trade-offs and costs.
• Participate in reviews of architecture, design, operations, and post-incident analyses.
• Troubleshoot root causes and resolve defects; participate in on-call rotations.
