Job summary

Upstart seeks a Secured Lending Quality Manager to lead quality control across origination, servicing, and collections, ensuring compliance and robust performance. You’ll drive audits, data-driven improvements, and investor defect analysis in a fast-moving lending environment.

You will partner with Operations, Compliance, Legal, and Risk to scale a modern quality program while maintaining strong regulatory alignment. Remote options across the United States available.

Qualifications

• 7+ years in quality control, compliance testing, or risk management in consumer lending (secured lending a plus).
• 2+ years leading a QC team or auditors.
• Experience with pre-close and post-close reviews and corrective actions.
• Familiarity with regulatory exams (OCC, FDIC, CFPB).
• Experience designing QC sampling methodologies.
• Experience with non-performing loan reviews or servicing oversight.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.

Responsibilities

• Lead the secured lending QC program across origination, servicing, and collections, including reviews and testing.
• Oversee QC sampling methodology ensuring risk-based, regulatory-aligned samples.
• Own the QC Engine: rule approval, validation, and reporting.
• Drive root cause analysis and remediation for defect trends and investor issues.
• Develop dashboards and trend analyses for senior leadership; prepare for audits and exams.
• Coordinate with Operations, Compliance, Legal, Risk and servicing teams on standards and timelines.
• Oversee third-party and subservicer quality reviews and compliance checks.
• Support model risk monitoring through quality reviews tied to credit decisions.
