Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED; 2 years of relevant experience if no Associate’s degree.
• Preferred: Associate’s degree and RHIT Certification.
• Experience in health information management is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Process written and telephone requests for release of medical records or information.
• Validate authority to release information to external parties.
• Ensure releases comply with policies, procedures, and regulations (HIPAA, laws).
• Release reports via auto fax, fax, or photocopy; maintain records.
• Process walk-in requests for copies from patients, attorneys, police, or third parties.
• Respond to subpoenas, court orders, and other legal requests.
• Enter correspondence requests into management systems; handle pre-billing and invoicing.
• Prepare records for patient billing, audits, and financial requests.
