Job summary

North Dakota Department of Transportation in Bismarck is seeking a Section Lead in the Design Division to manage consultant-led projects from preliminary reports through plan development for roadway improvements.

The role requires a Professional Engineer license in ND within six months, a BS in Civil/Construction Engineering, and at least four years’ experience with supervisory responsibilities. A valid ND driver’s license is required.

Qualifications

• Registration as a professional engineer in ND within 6 months.
• BS degree in Civil or Construction Engineering.
• Minimum four years of professional engineering work experience, including two years of supervisory or lead work.
• Requires a class D driver's license for travel.

Responsibilities

• Lead complex roadway improvement projects and supervise consultant-led staff.
• Review consultant work: environmental documents, plans, scopes, fees, and billing.
• Plan development and project coordination between department and consultants.
• Provide leadership for Section Lead Project Management and ensure milestone compliance.
