Job summary

Housing Authority of the City of Los Angeles is seeking a Section 8 Advisor to perform tasks pertaining to the Section 8 Housing Assistance Payment Program and other housing programs under supervision.

Responsibilities include processing yearly contract renewals, verifying applications, arranging tenant interviews, verifying inspection approval and comparable rents, and maintaining contracts between participants, landlords and the Authority.

Qualifications

• Three years of verifiable paraprofessional experience providing services to low income, elderly, or handicapped/disabled persons in public housing, employment, financial assistance or closely related services.
• A Bachelor's degree in Business or Public Administration, Psychology, or Sociology may be substituted for two (2) years of the required experience.

Responsibilities

• Process yearly contract renewals.
• Verify application accuracy.
• Arrange for interviews with tenants.
• Verify inspection approval and comparable rents.
• Process new tenant contracts.
• Conduct certification sessions.
• Maintain contract between participants, landlords, and the Authority.
• Performs other essential job-related duties as required.
