Job summary

Goldschmitt and Associates is seeking a Section 508/ Accessibility Consultant to ensure digital services, data products, dashboards, documentation, and user interfaces developed or supported for Federal Student Aid are accessible and comply with federal requirements.

This role will integrate accessibility into the design and development process from the beginning, partnering with cross-functional teams to remediate barriers and validate usable experiences for assistive technology users.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional experience in digital accessibility, Section 508 compliance, accessible UX, accessibility testing, or related field
• Ability to pass a 6C Public Trust investigation, including US citizenship
• Experience testing web apps with keyboard-only navigation and assistive technologies
• Experience testing with screen readers such as JAWS, NVDA, VoiceOver
• Knowledge of accessible HTML, ARIA, semantic markup, forms, tables, navigation, and interactive components
• Ability to translate accessibility requirements into design/development acceptance criteria

Responsibilities

• Serve as subject matter expert for Section 508, WCAG, and accessible digital design
• Interpret accessibility requirements into practical design, development, testing criteria
• Partner with UX designers to identify accessibility needs early
• Review wireframes and prototypes for accessibility barriers
• Evaluate digital products for accessibility and remediation needs
• Perform manual accessibility testing using keyboard navigation and assistive tech
• Use automated tools to identify accessibility defects
• Test screen-reader behavior, focus order, navigation, controls, and dynamic content
• Review data visualizations to ensure information isn't conveyed by color alone
• Document accessibility findings, severity, and corrective actions
• Help teams establish reusable accessible components and design guidance
• Provide accessibility training and coaching to team members
• Monitor changes to federal accessibility standards and adjust practices
