Virginia Beach City Public Schools is seeking a dedicated special education teacher to provide specialized instruction for students with disabilities, aligned with the general curriculum and supported by supplemental aids and accommodations.

The role emphasizes collaboration with parents, teachers, and specialists to develop and implement individualized education programs (IEPs), monitor progress, and maintain accurate records while fostering an inclusive learning environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in an approved program for special education – general curriculum or 27 semester hours in the education of students with disabilities in the assigned area.
• Must be eligible or possess a valid Collegiate Professional License from the State of Virginia.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct and indirect instructional support to students in a positive environment.
• Instruct students using varied techniques to meet diverse needs.
• Modify curriculum with accommodations and supports for students with disabilities.
• Plan and conduct a balanced program of instruction, practice, and observation.
• Meet with parents to discuss progress and priorities for individualized education needs.
• Confer with professionals to develop IEPs.
• Maintain accurate student records and prepare required reports.
