  • Creates, manages and scans chart notes to assist clinicians and maintain HIPAA-compliant records.

Preferred: Medical terminology. 1 year secretarial or related fields experience

TYPICAL PHYSICAL/MENTAL DEMANDS

Must be able to work independently as well as with co-workers and patients. Must be able to prioritize work demands and organize time efficiently. Must be able to deal effectively with the stress of deadlines and frequent constant interruptions.

Light physical demand level - be able to lift 25 pounds regularly and occasionally 50 pounds to assist in basic patient care and/or to assist with office supplies utilizing proper body mechanics. Able to stand, walk, and sit frequently. Possesses adequate reaction time to respond quickly to unexpected patient care situations. Must be able to walk/maneuver frequently in and around the building and be able to operate several different desktop devices, computer, scanner, phone etc.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Schedules outpatient appointments with scheduling tools and per department protocol.
  • Obtains and verifies insurance and billing information. Able to accurately process information for all insurance types as well as have the ability to obtain the necessary information for insurance types that are not familiar.
  • Maintains >95%accuracy
  • Provides phone reception utilizing excellent service excellence techniques.
  • Creates, manages and scans chart notes to assist clinicians with patient care and following the regulatory requirements to maintain records; for example, HIPAA
  • Registers patient accounts and audits/monitors information for accuracy and to ensure proper billing.
  • Provides front desk reception duties, involving leadership when a situation has the potential to escape or to receive recognition for staff.
  • Performs all job functions in a timely, efficient and effective manner as part of a team
  • Supports a collaborative and cooperative environment to facilitate mutual respect and effective interpersonal relations.
