Job summary

Sayres and Associates Corporation seeks an experienced Mechanical Engineer with an active SECRET clearance to support the PMS 300/325 Ship Design Management team in Washington, DC. You will provide SME expertise for mechanical systems and shipboard equipment across early concept through construction phases.

The role requires seven years of design experience, 3D modeling, and ABS/military specifications knowledge.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• Seven years of design experience in ship design and construction.
• Experience with ABS specifications and military requirements.
• Ability to analyze system interfaces in 3D environment and communicate impacts.
• Active Secret Clearance verifiable in DISS/JPAS.
• Experience with 3D modeling and ship system integration.

Responsibilities

• Support concept studies, feasibility studies, preliminary design, contract design, detail design, construction activities, independent design reviews, and shipboard installation.
• Contribute to special studies related to ships, boats, craft, ship systems, and shipboard equipment.
• Provide mechanical engineering support throughout shipbuilding process to ensure successful concept and preliminary design activities.
• Collaborate on contract design activities and detail design and construction activities to optimize ship systems.
• Conduct independent design reviews and assess mechanical components for standards and regulatory compliance.
• Provide technical expertise for in-service ship design and engineering activities.
• Assist shipboard installation and ensure integration of mechanical components.
• Engage in special studies with analyses to enhance shipbuilding processes and designs.
• Perform advanced mechanical analyses and simulations to optimize ship systems.
• Conduct mechanical tests and evaluations to validate reliability.
