Job summary

Stellar Virtual is seeking a Secondary Social Studies teacher to deliver high-quality online instruction with a focus on standards alignment and student engagement. The role requires experience in virtual teaching, strong communication, and the ability to create dynamic online lessons for diverse learners.

You will conduct live sessions, develop recorded activities, and collaborate with the Department Chair to support student success in a remote setting across the Lone Star Virtual Academy

Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years of secondary teaching experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university.
  • Valid Texas teaching certificate with endorsements in Social Studies.
  • Experience with virtual/online teaching and digital tools.
  • Strong written and verbal communication.
  • Proficiency with Google Workspace.

Position Details

Overview

As a Secondary Teacher, you will play a pivotal role in delivering exceptional virtual education to secondary school students. This position requires experience and knowledge in Social Studies but also a deep understanding of virtual teaching methodologies, technology integration, and the ability to inspire and engage students in an online setting.

Essential Duties
  • Develop and adapt curriculum materials that align with state standards and cater to the diverse learning styles and needs of virtual students.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive online learning environment, implementing effective strategies for student engagement, participation, and behavior management.
  • Utilize innovative and interactive teaching methods to deliver engaging Social Studies lessons, incorporating multimedia resources, discussion forums, and collaborative activities during live sessions during scheduled learning activities.
  • Participate in live learning sessions, in addition to preparing recorded learning activities, for all students, with support from the designated Department Chair.
  • Design, administer, and assess student assignments, projects, and exams.
  • Provide timely and constructive feedback to guide students in their academic progress.
  • Offer additional support and resources to students who may require extra assistance, ensuring that all learners have the opportunity to succeed.
  • Maintain regular communication with parents and guardians, providing updates on student progress, addressing concerns, and collaborating on strategies to support student success.
  • Stay informed about best practices in online education, Social Studies curriculum developments, and virtual teaching methodologies.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance teaching skills.
  • You will play a key role in our collective success by proactively pivoting to support emerging business needs and strategic priorities directed by your manager.
Knowledge, Skills & Attributes
  • A minimum of 2 years of successful educational experience, including secondary classroom teaching.
  • Demonstrated competency in the core academic subject area assigned.
  • Desire to put students first.

  • Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior.
  • Ability to adapt teaching strategies to the virtual learning environment.
  • Proven experience working independently with minimal supervision, including the ability to manage a digital task list and maintain a stable remote (home-office) infrastructure.
  • Minimum of 1–2 years of experience using the Google Workspace suite (Docs, Sheets, Slides, Drive) in a professional or academic setting.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate complex ideas via written channels (Email, Google Chat, and Document Comments) with high clarity and low ambiguity.
  • Access to a private, secure, high-speed internet connection with a minimum of 25 Mbps download and 10 Mbps upload speeds.
Education & Certification Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university;
  • Valid Texas teaching certificate with endorsements in Social Studies or related training and work experience for certification waivers under the District of Innovation Plan (DOI).
