Job summary

Unalaska City School District is seeking a paraeducator to assist in the care and tutoring of students with various needs. The position may be placed in Intensive Resource (IR) or Extended Resource (ER) classrooms depending on district needs.

The job offers a New Hire Hourly Rate of $23.15 - $25.90 DOE, a 7-hour workday and a 9-month work year, plus a $2,000 retention bonus paid in installments. Eligibility includes the required ParaProfessional Assessment or related education, with the bonus

Qualifications

Must meet at least one of the following three qualifications: a high school diploma or equivalent and ParaProfessional Assessment, or an associate's degree or higher, or completion of two years of higher education (48 semester hours) or equivalent.
Must have understanding of developmental disabilities.
Must demonstrate proper lifting skills to lift a minimum of 50 lbs. regularly.
Must communicate clearly with students, staff and parents, and calm upset or angry students.

Responsibilities

Assists in the care and tutoring of students with physical, social-emotional, behavioral, self-help and/or developmental deficits.
Position may be placed in Intensive Resource (IR) or Extended Resource (ER) classrooms depending on district needs.
