Job summary

Schenectady City School District seeks a library media specialist for the secondary level who is devoted to helping every student develop reading, research, and information literacy skills.

The librarian will build strong partnerships with teachers and the community, manage the library program, use technology to enhance instruction, ensure equitable access to resources for all students and staff, and continuously pursue professional growth.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a relevant field.
• Current New York State teaching license in required content area.
• Experience in library/media services preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develop, maintain, and sustain relationships and partnerships with colleagues and the community.
• Develop a strong library program for all students and staff in the building.
• Serve as tech support and innovator in the implementation of technology in our schools.
• Maintain the library for distribution/circulation of materials and coordination of services.
• Provide effective instruction to building staff and students.
