Job summary

Chester County Intermediate Unit (CCIU) is seeking a secondary emotional support teacher for the Gateway Program at TCHS Pennock's Bridge Campus in West Grove, PA. The role involves teaching math and science to emotionally support students in a smaller classroom setting with access to mental health supports.

The successful candidate will have a bachelor's degree in education, PA Special Education certification, and preferred secondary math/science certification; prior experience with behavior

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in education is required.
• PA Special Education Certificate (7-12 or N-12) is required.
• PA Instructional Certificate in Secondary Math or Science is preferred.
• Experience teaching Math or Science is preferred.
• Experience with secondary students is preferred.
• Experience working with students with severe and complex behavior challenges is preferred.
• Current police, child abuse & FBI fingerprint clearances are required.

Responsibilities

• Instruct individuals and groups in special education skill and subject areas.
• Plan curriculum, lessons, and special education programs and teaching methods.
• Evaluate and monitor student progress based on classroom performance, test scores, and behavior observations.
• Support objectives and interventions of the educational program.
• Maintain a safe classroom environment.
• Maintain contact with parents and professionals concerning student progress.
• Develop IEPs addressing academic, behavioral, and speech needs when appropriate.
• Prepare report cards, educational records, and observation records.
