Job description

The role of the Secondary Career and Technical Education (CTE) Instructional Technology Curriculum Developer is to provide support and facilitate development of instructional materials aligned to WA State CTE Program Standards for adoption and implementation in secondary classrooms in BSD.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES : (These duties are a representative sample; position assignments may vary.)

  • Plan and facilitate professional development for school based instructional technology curriculum leaders and teachers to support instruction of WA State CTE Program Standards
  • Plan and facilitate district curriculum meetings and CTE department / district level meetings
  • Facilitate curriculum development, improvement, and adoptions in Secondary CTE programs
  • Work directly with CTE teachers in supporting them to effectively implement the CTE curriculum frameworks
  • Build coaching / mentoring relationships with CTE teachers to support strengthening instructional practices, including collaborating on strategies focused on improvement of their instruction
  • Complete state and district reports, as required
  • Research and remain abreast of curriculum / technology issues, CTE programs and needs, and of state and national CTE curricular trends
  • Assist with the development and implementation of curriculum / technology resources and other appropriate accommodations that address special needs students (Advanced Learning, MLL, students with IEP’s)
  • May have a partial teaching assignment

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS :

  • Reports directly to and is supervised by the Director of Career and Technical Education

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE (positions in this class typically require) :

Required :

  • Possess a valid Washington State teaching certificate.
  • Minimum of five (5) years teaching experience.
  • Minimum of two (2) years successful experience with assisting other staff with instructional development.

Preferred :

  • Experience in providing professional development to educators in a variety of settings.
  • Prior experience in the instructional materials selection process.
  • Coaching and supporting teachers both novice and experienced teachers in pedagogy aligned to inclusive practices for language learners and students with disabilities.
  • Leadership experience at either the building, district or regional level.
  • Prior experience and deep knowledge on instructional technology pedagogy and software

LICENSING REQUIREMENTS (positions in this class typically require) :

  • Possess or qualify for immediate issuance of a valid Washington State teaching certificate.

KNOWLEDGE (position requirements at entry) :

  • Adult learning theory and professional development standards.
  • Research and evidence based best practices for teaching students of various backgrounds and abilities.
  • Equity focused assessment practices and strategies to create a productive learning environment.
  • Evaluation standards for teachers based upon the Danielson Framework for Teaching.
  • Expertise in technology, secondary instructional materials, and high-quality instruction
  • Thorough knowledge of the web-based Bellevue School District curriculum
  • Eagerness to learn new technology

  • Ability to work cooperatively as part of a school team, district team and / or individually with staff members as needed.
  • Ability to recognize quality instruction and to help others attain the same.
  • Ability to take initiative to problem-solve, propose, implement and assess solutions.
  • Ability to develop and conduct effective in-service programs for staff that meets their needs and aligns with the District’s mission, vision and strategic initiatives.
  • Ability to communicate skillfully, both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to work with and lead a diverse group of adults for the purposes of promoting curriculum and technology implementation.
  • High level technology skills.
  • Ability to perform all duties in accordance with applicable Board policies and district and legal requirements.
  • Ability to meet and maintain punctuality and attendance expectations.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS :

Positions in this class typically require : stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, finger dexterity, grasping, talking, hearing, seeing, and repetitive motions.

Light Work : Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and / or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and / or negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. If the use of arm and / or leg controls requires exertion of forces greater than that for Sedentary Work and the worker sits most of the time.

Incumbents may be subjected to moving mechanical parts, odors, chemicals, extreme temperatures, inadequate lighting, workspace restrictions, and intense noises.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT :

This is a general posting for one or more positions. Positions may be full or part-time and will be filled as specific openings are identified.

69,816 to $ 130,960 annual salary (based on the negotiated collective bargaining agreement). Certificated staff work the school year contract with placement on the District and BEA bargaining agreement salary schedule. Placement on the schedule is determined by training and experience.

Medical, dental, vision, long-term disability, and life-insurance eligibility is based upon .45 FTE. Retirement provided through Washington State Department of Retirement System
