Job summary

Ryerson is seeking a Service Center Operator C (SCOC) to handle day-to-day staging, packing, and picking of material for shipments. The role operates forklifts and completes SAP work orders for shipping and receiving. You will join a registered apprenticeship program during onboarding.

The position is on the 2nd shift, 2:30pm-10:30pm, with a focus on accuracy, safety, and productivity within a dynamic metals environment.

Qualifications

• Pass a skills-based assessment evaluating reading, math, inspection & measurement, attention to detail, and problem-solving.
• Minimum 1 year of similar job experience preferred.
• Basic math skills.
• Basic computer skills and/or comfort using a computer.
• Physical ability to pass a vision, hearing, and mobility exam.
• Enrollment in a registered apprenticeship program as part of onboarding and training.

Responsibilities

• Picking and staging feedstock for fulfillment orders.
• Breaking down bulk bundles for customer-specific orders.
• Packaging of material to customer requirements.
• Operating a sit-down or side loader forklift to move material as needed.
• Proper completion of paperwork and SAP work order confirmation for shipping/receiving.
• Maximum productivity for finished goods creation.
• All other duties as assigned or changeable.
