Job summary

Ryerson is seeking a Service Center Operator C (SCOC) to support day-to-day staging, packing, and picking of material for shipments. You will use proper equipment and SAP work orders to ensure accurate shipping/receiving processes.

The role includes working in a hands-on environment as part of an apprenticeship onboarding, with opportunities to grow in the metals industry and contribute to a busy service center. Eligibility for a registered apprenticeship is provided.

Qualifications

• Pass a skills-based assessment in reading, math, inspection and problem-solving.
• Minimum 1 year of similar job experience preferred.
• Regular attendance is required.
• Basic math and computer skills.
• Able to pass vision, hearing, mobility exams.
• Onboarding includes enrollment in an apprenticeship program.

Responsibilities

• Pick and stage feedstock for fulfillment orders.
• Break down bulk bundles for customer-specific orders.
• Package material to customer requirements.
• Operate sit-down or side loader forklift to move material.
• Complete paperwork and SAP work orders for shipping/receiving.
